    Online Timed Auction FAQs
How does a timed-online auction work?
A timed online auction is held over the internet and lasts for a specific period of time e.g. 7 days, 14 days, 30days. Lots may contain multiple items or be just a single item. Before bidding read the description and conditions and view the photos. Remember that you must commit to the lots you bid on so, take a look at the important information and the terms of the auction
How do I register for an online auction?
To register for online auctions, you'll need to have an account with our platform. To bid on Hiatt Knudson Auction on-line platform, you will be prompted to input personal details such as your name, card details and address. Once this has been completed, you'll be able to register for auctions.
Am I obligated to bid once I register?
No. You must register to be able to bid, but registration does not in any way obligate you to bid.
Are there fees for bidding on an auction?
There are no charges to bid. Charges are only incurred if you are the winning bidder. Online timed auctions are subject to a buyer's premium charge, which will be outlined in the terms & conditions of the auction .
How do I remove a bid?
Once a bid has been placed, there is absolutely no way to cancel it under any circumstances.
S hould I wait until the last minute to bid?
You can certainly bid whenever you choose during the time that bidding is open. We recommend that you not wait until the last minute to bid, there is no particular advantage to waiting until the very last moment, as Hiatt Knudson Auctions feature an anti-sniping extension called auto-extend for 2-5 minutes.
    Can I pay by card?
Yes, you can pay with card but there is a 5,000 limit, bidders can also pay by check or cash at pickup or completion of an online bank transfer.
What happens if I win an item at auction?
We invoice the winning bidder with a payment request, via e-mail, within 2 day. The payment request will detail the amount that will need to be paid to us within 3 working days. Shipping charges are not included.
If I win an item, can I return it?
No, our auctions are As Is. There are no guarantees, expressed or implied. Everything sells “as is” and “where is.” All sales will be considered final when awarded to the high bidder.
If the lot you won is different from what was pictured or described, it's important that you contact us so we're aware of the situation and can assist.
How do I get my auction items?
Shipping is available for a charge,
The winning bidder will then be able to contact our auction team about pickup or delivery.
    What is an auction reserve?
Unless stated, all lots do not have a reserve but bidding may start at the reserve. A reserve will be the minimum amount that the vendor is willing to sell the lot for. A lot can fail to sell because the starting price was not been bid.  If I sell in auction, when do I receive the funds?
As a security measure, we withhold funds to consigners until the winning bidder has received their lot. When the winning bidder has received their lot and payment has cleared, we will begin the process of sending the consigner their funds in 10-20 days.
If you have any questions then you can contact us via e-mail, social media or telephone.
